Martin has worked in the IP profession for more than 35 years as a patent and trademark attorney. He has worked in both private practice and in-house positions in the UK, USA, Japan, France, and Belgium. He has wide experience with many types of clients, ranging from start-ups and private inventors up to multinationals.
Martin has extensive experience in working before the UK and European Patent Offices, including post-grant opposition and appeal procedures. While working in the US, Martin passed the USPTO qualifying examination and prosecuted a large number of applications at the USPTO. His work has covered a number of technical areas, mostly in the physical sciences and engineering. He has particular experience in the oil and gas industry and has worked closely with businesses involved in medical sciences and materials sciences.
Martin's in-house experience has provided him with an insight into the management of IP within international businesses, which he now uses to help advise clients on the effective management of IP.
