Avery is a lawyer and licensed Canadian Trademark Agent at Marks & Clerk. His practice focuses on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement.
Avery helps clients obtain and maintain the exclusive rights to their trademarks in Canada and abroad. He has assisted a variety of clients ranging from start ups, scale ups and multinationals, and in a wide range of industries including restaurants, manufacturing, clothing, retail, tech, fitness, health, consulting, and social media. He also helps foreign associates file Canadian applications and respond to provisional refusals in a timely manner.
Among other associations, Avery is an active committee member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada as well as the IP Section of the Canadian Bar Association.
Prior to joining Marks & Clerk, Avery obtained his law degree in Ontario with an area of concentration in Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law before working at a boutique IP law firm in North York and subsequently helping to develop and grow an IP practice at a full-service law firm in Mississauga.
