Gavin is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney with a background in physics. He has particular experience in the fields of optics, lasers, semiconductors, sensors and electromechanical devices.
Gavin has experience in preparing, filing and prosecuting UK, European and international patent applications. He has provided clients with opinions regarding validity and infringement. Gavin has represented clients in Examination, Opposition and Appeals proceedings before the European Patent Office.
Gavin joined Marks & Clerk in 2015 as a trainee patent attorney having graduated from the University of Liverpool with a first class Master's degree in Physics in 2014. Gavin's final year project focused on the electrochemistry of ionic liquids and involved him carrying out X-ray diffraction experiments at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, as well as designing and testing a new piece of vacuum laboratory equipment at the Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy in Liverpool.
