The city of Cambridge has an impressive record of scientific contributions that have been of monumental benefit to society as a whole. This includes the discovery of the structure of DNA and the conception of the Turing Machine which established the foundations of the field of artificial intelligence.

The office is particularly proud of the part it has played in assisting with several clients build their IP during their journey from academic origins through significant growth and then achieving considerable investment or being acquired, with strong IP portfolios playing a crucial role in their ultimate success.
This commitment to supporting innovation across East Anglia is further underpinned by our commitment to the Innovate Cambridge Charter. This initiative fosters innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth within Cambridge’s dynamic tech community.
Aligned with the charter’s ambitious ten-year targets, we aim to harness innovation to drive local transformation. A key tenet of the Charter is also to ‘ensure inclusive growth and increased diversity’; a value that is aligned with our own as we are proud to sponsor a roundtable at Cambridge Tech Week on 12 September.
The session will bring together businesses to share ideas on how to address the black talent skills gap in STEM and create an environment that supports retention and development in these sectors. The event has been developed by diversity initiative ‘Black Talent & Leadership in STEM’.
Jo Spreckley, Training & Development Manager at Marks & Clerk, said: “We are delighted to be working with the initiative to continue our effort to increase Black representation in the IP and wider STEM sectors and share learnings and ideas with other organisations.”
“We are excited to partner with the initiative for the first time to continue our intern programme for students from under-represented ethnicities. This is the fourth year we have run the programme and hope that it shows that the intellectual property sector is open and welcoming for all.”
Kirsteen Gordon, Office Managing Partner, Marks & Clerk Cambridge, adds: “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Marks & Clerk. Being part of Cambridge Tech Week, celebrating the latest technologies, innovations and advancements across the Cambridge Science and Technology landscape is very exciting for us as a business, our clients and business community.”
