In 2015, Gerald Samuel set up a law firm in Malaysia, Messrs Gerald Samuel, that handles all aspects of IP litigation and transactional work. Gerald was for the past 20 years a litigator specialising in various aspects of IP litigation, and was the counsel in many major patent, trade mark and design cases in Malaysia. The new law firm works closely with Marks & Clerk Malaysia and will be able to provide seamless support for its clients for all aspects of contentious and transactional work in Malaysia. Gerald is also an advocate and solicitor in Singapore and handles contentious matters in that jurisdiction.
Gerald graduated in law from the National University of Singapore. He is fluent in English and Malay. Gerald has been singled out by the IAM Patent 1000 2016 for his “calm reasoning and persuasiveness”. He has also been listed as an expert by Who’s Who Legal, listed as a ‘patent and trademark leader’ by World IP Review, and recommended by both the WTR1000 and Asia-Pacific Legal 500. Gerald has been listed as an ‘IP Star’ by Managing Intellectual Property in 2016, which says he is “highly respected by peers”.
