Daniel is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney. He has considerable experience in the drafting, prosecution and opposition of UK, European and international patent applications, and in infringement and validity matters. He works with many types of clients and is focussed on providing commercially useful advice so that IP protection fits into a wider strategy. He specialises in the patenting of inventions related to nuclear fission and fusion (with particular emphasis on the use of high temperature superconductors), diamond physics, lasers, opto-electronics, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and telecommunications. He also has wide experience of patent work in other fields, particularly in the oil industry.

Daniel is managing partner of the Oxford office, and has previously been chairman of Marks & Clerk. He graduated from Oxford University with an honours degree in Physics, specialising in solid-state and particle physics, and was then awarded a DPhil for research into atomic point defects in CVD diamond.
