Please link images
[edit]
Hello Karduelis!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. BotMultichill (talk) 12:50, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Tagging for deletion
[edit]Thank you for tagging the "Salix arctophila" page for deletion. Please use the {{speedydelete|reason}} template for these cases; the {{Delete}} template is for nominating pages/media for standard deletion requests. Cheers, and thanks for the help, Patrícia msg 10:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Dear Karduelis,
Galanthus caucasicus is an obsolete name, which should no more be used. This obsolete name covers several species, which are native to the Caucasus: Galanthus alpinus, Galanthus elwesii var. monostrictus and Galanthus angustifolius.
I identify it as Galanthus angustifolius, a species which looks like the common snowdrop Galanthus nivalis - not native in Turkey - but with narrow, glaucous leaves.
I will reclassify it accordingly and ask for removing the obsolete category.
Best regards, --Réginald (To reply) 07:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Dear Karduelis,
- According to A.P. Davis, the botanical guru of the genus Galanthus (see: Davis A.P. The Genus Galanthus – A botanical magazine monograph. Timber Press, Portland, Oregon, 1999, ISBN 0-88192-431-8), Galanthus caucasicus is indeed a synonym of Galanthus alpinus var. alpinus. However, since the name Galanthus caucasicus is abusively used for the taxa of Galanthus elwesii with one single apical spot on the internal tepals (var. monostrictus), he advises to no more use it.
- The taxon on your picture is clearly not a Galanthus alpinus var. alpinus. Galanthus alpinus has broader leaves and narrow apical spot on the internal tepals. As I wrote I identify it as Galanthus angustifolius, a species which looks like the common snowdrop Galanthus nivalis, but with narrow, glaucous leaves.
- Best regards, --Réginald (To reply) 07:52, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Turkish translations needed
[edit]Hi! I contact you as you seems to speak English and Turkish.
Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating {{Meta information museum}}, the meta-template we use for many museums, like {{Information Louvre}}. Could you please help us find Turkish translations for every tag name:
* artist/maker * description * dimensions * credit line * accession number * location * source/photographer * references * other versions
"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?
Thanks for any help. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 10:37, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- I see you just created the right page. Now the museum templates should appear in Turkish for Turkish-speaking people. Thanks a lot! Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 11:24, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Great shot, I reverted an IP edit on this file, please review. --Martin H. (talk) 08:51, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

your DRs
[edit]Hi Karduelis,
I've restored the original description of File:Anzer yaylası.JPG and File:Anzer yaylası-2.JPG. When requesting deletion, it is not ok to remove a legitimate description and license. In addition, you should add a good reason for the deletion request. Without that, it will end nowhere. --Túrelio (talk) 08:31, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
File:Sevcan orhan.JPG has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
